why would a sponsor get horny over an affiliate making them sales and making the site look similar, it makes no sense.

Making a similar looking site will just help the affiliate program and can be good for consistency.
It's mostly people who were doing EMDs back when they worked well that they don't like because when normally their sites would come up as #1 for their sitename and main KWs, but EMDing them, making the sites look similar and ranking them higher than the paysite itself basically makes it seem like the affiliate is stealing sales that would normally have been made with the main site itself, regardless if that particular feeder had better 'marketing' or not...

No sponsor will sue you for doing it, they want sales, you are doing marketing to get them sales.

Putting up the sites is the one thing that I enjoy doing. Sadly I'm lacking in other areas needed to ensure sucess. We'll see how it goes

I tried that years ago and never got anywhere with it. WP and other platforms make it way too easy to slap up sites without paying someone to do it for you. Plus I would have to do what others want, not what I want, and that gets damn close to being an actual job. lol. Several years ago I used to handle all aspects of several mainstream sites for a couple friends but they both passed away. I haven't done anything but my own stuff ever since.

Now work hard on SEO and other methods of getting traffic, as well as ways to draw the surfer in to the main site to set your cookie and get closer to making a sale.

SEO is an important part for sure. From what I have seen from the people on this board Heidihoe is one of those that is well soaked in this industries knowledge from the simple to the super complex aspects, im sure your site will make tons of cash for you, it looks great!
