never laugh at other people's disabilities or say it can not happen to you, I just spent 2 hours at the hospital with a dear friend. His wife called me and the said can we go visit Mike. So me and the wife went there.
He is 59 years old, been a type 2 diabetic for 30 plus years, way over weight, has very high cholesterol and blood pressure is up there. He had an accident in September when he fell off a ladder, broke his leg, they put it in a cast, was doing fine. Well turns out his medical conditions have not helped the full recovery, especially the diabetes, and the doctor is now recommending they amputate his left leg before the problem spreads.
He is not for it, I can understand and keeps saying he would rather die than wake up without a leg. Not to seem cruel or mean but this guy always joked
at people who had a bad limp or could not walk normally. Anything can come on and affect us in life. I am really upset for him and seeing him cry asking the few of us there today to talk the doctor out of the operation but it's not our decision. We did see the doctor and he said the choices are amputate or he can end up dying.
The logn and short of this post is, it hurts to see a friend in this situation but never laugh or think some disease can not hit you. Try be more compassionate towards others who have serious conditions.
Peace
