I might not be a butcher but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express
If anyone does not know what I am referring to let me know, it's an old Holiday Inn express ad.
These sanctions, secondary sanctions and tariffs are going to hard America way more than any other country, and not only financially but geo-politically and the US Dollar as the world's reserve currency.
First of all correct me if I am wrong, the tariffs are paid by the companies importing the goods into the US. Second these sanctions are pushing not only US adversaries together but countries that were considered friendly ones. case in point the Russia and China, Russia and India and now India and China which are not really the best of friends. Brazil and China, South Africa and Russia.....my enemies enemy is my friend principle.
Last but not least if you sanction, tariff and freeze sovereign wealth, case in point Russia's money was frozen by the EU and USA guess what happened, not only Russia but other countries started trading in their local currencies not the USD. Comes along president Trump says we can not let the USD lose it's position as the world's currency, but his actions are doing exactly that.
It's no rocket science if you freeze $300 billion of Russian cash other countries will pay attention and say it's best we do not hold our money in US dollars where it can be frozen.
Who thinks what I just said makes no sense and the sanctions and tariffs are good for America.

What does 'I might not be a butcher but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express' have to do with sanctions or tariffs.

No matter what you think of Trump's internal policies, America's power and influence is draining away all over the world. All across Africa, Asia, South America and even more recently in Europe. Of course, China is more than happy to scoop up all those potential allies and trading partners.
I don't agree that freezing Russian assets has caused the dollar to sink. If it had, then we would have started to see the downward trend in 2022 when Putin invaded Ukraine but this is much more recent. Since Trump came to office, the 3 biggest holders of US debt (ie China, Japan and UK) have all started dumping US debt partly because of Trump's crazy tariff policies and partly because the US debt has reached such huge proportions (Over $36 trillion) that economists are starting to question whether the US can actually pay its debts. Hence why the US lost it's AAA credit rating last year
Either way, your correct in that Trump is destroying the global economy that was centered on America and leaving the door wide open for China to take it's place

Modi will come back to kiss the ring of Donald Trump, there are 2 leaders in the world that flip flop and try play both sides, Modi and Erdogan of Turkey, what they say at any minute in time depends on who is offering what to them. Modi will bend the knee it's only a question of how soon.
