ok just to add a bit of background to what seems to be happening with this :-

There's 2 parts to this act. Part 5 covered studios and pay sites who produce their own porn (eg Brazzers, Bangbros, Reality Kings etc) and that came into effect in March this year. Then there is part 3 which is for user generated content (eg TAC, Pornhub, Only Fans etc) which comes into effect on July 25th

So far Ive not found ANY of the studio sites that are actually doing age verification. Its simply way too expensive and users just wont do it. Who wants to upload a selfie every time the enter a porn site ?

Instead they all seem to be making a "No Nudity - Safe For Work" version of their site and directing UK traffic to it. eg https://www.evilangel.com/sfw , https://www.brazzersnetwork.com/SFW , https://www.rk.com/ , https://www.bangbrosnetwork.com/ . Clicking any of those links from within the UK will show a safe for work page

This is the approach we are taking but Im not sure how it will work for free sites. Pornhub can't exactly have a no nudity version of their site ??

There are apps out there that can do Age Estimation from a selfie eg https://www.yoti.com/business/facial-age-estimation/ but not sure on costs

The non-nude pages for UK traffic seems the way to go, what are you going to use to send your UK hits to another page.

Maxmind seems to be the main one people use https://www.maxmind.com/en/solutions/ip ... i-services

You can either use their web services API (via a bit of javascript) or if you need something a bit faster and more robust, you can download their database and host it on your own servers. There's pretty detailed docs on both methods https://dev.maxmind.com/geoip/geolocate-an-ip/

nb. Might want to check its not already installed on your servers. I was just about to register with them when my support guys told me its already included on our servers

We are almost there

To be honest, I think this is going to have little effect for non-UK based websites. Its the same with any of these state/country age verification laws. They only have jurisdiction over their own country so only UK based webmasters (like us) will be affected.

They might go as far as to block a few of the bigger non-uk based websites (eg pornhub, xvideos etc) but they are not going to employ an army of people to browse every single porn site in the world and block it if they don't adhere to the UK's age verification laws.
