You can say the same for non-adult production too, look at all the people in Hollywood that got outed for abuse and rape in just the past year.

Hell, shit goes on outside of the entertainment industry as well. Besides being a power thing, some of it is hard-wired subconsciously. We expect people to suppress this shit and act civilized but power corrupts, doesn't it? What surprises me is that anyone is surprised by this. Take off your rose-colored glasses! Perhaps I'm cynical...

When the power of love is greater than the love of power there will be peace on earth. (or something like that) - Jimi Hendrix said that I believe.

Also...
This might be more prominent in the adult industry since adult performers are already stigmatized. Who you gonna call? Ghost busters? Odds are pretty good that you'll be at least partially blamed for your misfortune. Perps know this and use it.

This topic gives me flashbacks to my HR days in the corporate world...
There's two basic forms sexual harassment takes place. Hostile environment and quit-pro-quo. Most companies put all kinds of policies in place to cover their ass and it works well for hostile environment claims if the policies are enforced. Quit-pro-quo claims are a different story altogether. Odds are the company will pay dearly if proven. Also, individuals involved as well as those who had knowledge are subject to be personally sued. It doesn't take much to prove it either. If A gets friendly with B, B gets fired for whatever reason, B screams harassment, odds are the company will have to pay. That's why some companies have rules against dating fraternizing etc, an attempt to reduce potential risk.

Where the adult industry might be worse than the rest of the business world is by not doing enough to alleviate a hostile work environment.

You see how they always use negative words when discussing porn, why not say ":Porn's hidden secrets"

The solution to work place sexual harassment seems obvious to me, but I am not a woman so it's probably not as simple as I see it. Report the abuse, the more you stay quiet the more the perpetrator will get to do his or her thing to you and others.
