Just think we get a 747 as a gift, how good that is, instead of the government using tax payers money to buy another Air Force One we get it for free. What is the left going on about, it's free for fuck sake be happy.

Because its a MASSIVE security risk. Think how easy it would be to bug that plane ?? Or for its defenses to be broadcast to a hostile nation ?
The whole reason why the original Air Force One is delayed is because Boeing can only use workers who have top secret security clearance to work on the plane

Exactly and to bring it up to Air Force one standards will take time, he’s only got 3 and a half years left in his second term. How long will it take to retrofit this thing. I agree don’t look a gift horse in the mouth but why do you believe any country would donate a $400 million plane, let me hazard a guess you expect something in return, not suggesting that or if they would get any favours but it seems an obvious question.tacnet wrote: ↑May 12th, 2025, 12:29 pmBecause its a MASSIVE security risk. This one is going to give the lawyers some work, there are laws on how much a president can get in a gift, even if this plane if not gifted to him there are still legal issues to work out.

Qatar is allied to Iran, Hezbollah and even Hamas. In other words, Trump is getting a $400 million plane from people he would normally kick out of Columbia university

So now he has 2 Air Force ones, his own 757 and this luxury 747, not a bad way to travel.

If it comes down to putting sanctions or tariffs on Qatar you think this gift might influence the decision?

I saw a story this weekend where it said the actual aircraft being gifted is a 2012 model, so the value is probably not $400 million dollars, that is the list price of a new one. Which they are not making any more the 747 went out of production. So how much is a 13 year old 747-8 actually worth?

Keep in mind it was outfitted for their royal family, not a basic 747.jag wrote: ↑May 19th, 2025, 8:10 amI saw a story this weekend where it said the actual aircraft being gifted is a 2012 model, so the value is probably not $400 million dollars, that is the list price of a new one.
