As much as it sucks, greatpornlinks has a point.

Part of the reason for the strict air quality rules is smog has a habit of lingering in LA. I had a friend visit in the summer, and she kept asking where the Hollywood sign is. I was like, we drove by it several times, the smog was blocking the view.

The most awesome time for Los Angeles is right about February/March, where the rain and wind whip that crap away and you can see the Hollywood sign all the way from Culver City. Everything looks so green and it even warms up a bit on occasion (ok really, our idea of cold is shorts weather for most of y'all).
