Yes big companies use email, everyone uses email in business.
The "NOT instant messaging" part of your post is ridiculous.

Email’s formality and record-keeping suit big companies, but many also use instant messaging for quick, internal communication. It’s not one or the other—both have their place.

I work with many BIG companies, they all use instant messaging at some point. Especially the teams that want to get things done now.
Have you ever heard of Google Workspace and Google Chat? How many 'big' companies are using these services?

Email is the new snail mail.

How often do you hear in the news concerning some scandal where the source reveals text messages and emails and signal or some of other collaboration software?

Executives, IMHE, Use phone calls, emails and their servants to relay their messages. Sometimes even text messages. As you move down the totem pole, instant messaging becomes more and more efficient and prolific.
The executives that want to be highly productive or fruitful, use instant messaging, as do the 'big' companies.

I have to thank skype for closing! I contacted my several hundreds contacts there with my Telegram & Discord ids and man, I got so many replies and business discussions since !!

I just migrated my laptops and IPhone to teams it was simple and painless.

If I go over to TEAMS and some of my contacts are still on Skype will the messaging work or do they have to be on TEAMS as well

My hubby installed it on his laptop but he also has an older macbook that will not allow the app to be installed on, the OS is older and can not be updated, this might become a problem for people with older computers.

Most surfers are on mobile devices so it will not be a big problem. Laptops are for work these days.
