Apparently China, Japan, UK and Saudi Arabia have all started dumping huge amounts of US treasury securities (ie US debt) and its likely other countries will follow in the wake of uncertainty about the US economy after these tariffs.

The dollar has always been the safe bet but, according to the news the other day, big holders of US debt (particularly China and Japan) are now looking elsewhere

Even if Apple invest $500 billion, it will cost them twice as much to make their phones in the USA. Meanwhile, they will still have their factories in China knocking out phones for the rest of the world at half the price

Your absolutely right. The rest of the world is not going to pay inflated prices for phones made in the USA. Not when they can get them at half the price from China and on top of that, USA goods will likely be subject to retaliatory tariffs so the ONLY people that will be paying more for Apple phones is the USA consumers

Well with Trump turning against his allies and slapping tariffs on his biggest trading partners, who do you think those countries are going to turn to in order to fill that vacuum ?? They are going to turn to the only other country on the planet capable of replacing the USA as a major trading partner ie CHINA.

This is already happening. Canada has announced they are switching their LNG sales away from the USA and instead supplying China and Europe who both desperately need LNG. Europe is also seeking closer ties with China after they announced that the USA is no longer a reliable partner.

Believe me, China are going to be the big winners out of this trade war and the American people are going to be the big losers.

You get it most of the MAGA people think tariffs are good for America. You bully countries with sanctions and tariffs guess what they turn to other countries for trade. What we are indirectly doing is telling our friendly partners look else where for trades, guess who is the other big player, CHINA and do not forget the EU overall economy is just as big as ours. This will not end well for our economy.

Well first day of the Trump tariffs and look whats happened

Canada has levied a reciprocal 25% tariff on all US goods to which Trump threatened to add another 25% against Canada. China has added a 15% tariff on all US agricultural goods which is hitting US farming hard. Mexico is expected to respond on Sunday. In the meantime, US stock markets have tanked as investors fear a US recession. The cost of groceries and fuel in the US is expected to go up IN DAYS

And now there is even talk of Trump rolling back some of these tariffs tomorrow. The only thing worse than these tariffs is rolling them back so quickly that nobody believes a word you say anymore

This is total chaos !!!
