A heads up with the recent bot attacks on the site

[TheButcher]

Hi guys

As you may have noticed in the past week the site sometimes slows down and or says "Resources Limit reached" and does not load, it started a week ago, I have been working with the techs over at the host to stop it. It is not a DDoS attack in the sense that someone is trying to crash the site, 2000-4000 search bt from relatively unimportant search engines and directories hit the server at the same time and most go to the register page, that slows down the database.

Thanks for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience. The server usually runs under 1.0 load average, it's always been a dedicated box since the board was started in 2004, obviously it has been upgraded over the years. This actual server is relatively new I believe we moved to it about 3 months ago. I always like excess redundancy in a server for times like this. Sponsorchat is the only site on the box I don;t like to put my other sites on it so the board opens up fast. I guess too much boring information but I like to share what is going on. We are on top of it and trying to get it resolved.

Peace
