SSL question - help

Hello

I added a new domain on my server, it has this auto-SSL install feature, when I type in https:// domain dot com it works, when I just type the domain name it shows 'insecure' in my browser.

Is this normal, I do not remember seeing this before when adding new domains.

You can force https via your .htaccess file

Just create a text file called .htaccess with the following lines in it and upload it to your root folder

Code: Select all

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

Hosts and registrars charge too much for SSL certificates where you can get them for free
