Elon Musk could buy TikTok in the USA
How would this pass anti-trust scrutiny, wouldn't it make Musk too powerful owning X and TikTok?
My problem with this whole TikTok sell or be banned is other countries might start pulling similar moves on US companies.
China is reported to be looking at an option to sell TikTok's US operation to Elon Musk if they can not stop it in the Supreme Court case.

That's a very good point. One person with all that power (who hasn't been elected) is not a good thing
But then he has got the money to outbid anyone on the planet and, as far as I am ware, there's no law to stop him. He wouldn't be a monopoly because he could site Facebook, Youtube, Google etc

Fair points,it still seems wrong for so few people to control social platforms.tacnet wrote: ↑January 24th, 2025, 1:23 pmThat's a very good point. One person with all that power (who hasn't been elected) is not a good thing

Totally agree. Trump would be mad to let him do it but Im not sure what he could do to stop him. After all, he would be a private citizen buying a private companypokerking wrote: ↑January 24th, 2025, 1:28 pmFair points,it still seems wrong for so few people to control social platforms.tacnet wrote: ↑January 24th, 2025, 1:23 pmThat's a very good point. I agree to a certain extent about a few controlling so much of the media and social networks, but if anyone is to have it then Musk is the best candidate. He is pro free speech and not into censorship like some.

Is it right that we force a business to sell or get banned, this is the real question.
