The good news is a lot of the urban areas are ok. It's windy AF so the greater risks there are power lines, tree branches, losing electricity.

The bad news is a lot of people live up in the hills. We don't typically get real rain until about February, and everything is bone dry. Fires that could have been contained quickly, spread wide. Like Santa Monica/Palisades/Malibu/Topanga might have been a smaller situation under other circumstances.

Making things worse is the high wind grounded fire fighting aircraft. The choppers and "super soakers" make a huge difference.

One of my friends in La Canada Flintridge was under evacuation orders this morning he came over to stay with me. Man I hope his house does not burn, it's so nice up there.

Huge areas of LA are without power, the schools are closed today, the governor and president have to announce and implement a state of emergency now.

We need new management from governor to Mayor, this is terrible what they have allowed to happen.

We need real open and transparent inquiries as to why there was a lack of water at hydrants and what needs to be done to never have this type of response again.

Apparently they went through 3 million gallons of water in the first 48 hours. Ive no idea how that compares to normal but it obviously wasn't enough

LA had a very wet winter last year (so plants grew) but they've had no rain whatsoever since about April last year so all that plant growth has dried out and just waiting for a spark. Add to that the 100 mile an hour winds they are experiencing and you have a recipe for disaster
