They are distancing themselves from Jaguar which is the right move, this is a going to be a disaster for Jaguar, they stopped producing most of their cars for a while, they are going all electric and now this. What a way to kill an old brand.

Even my brother doesn't understand this new Jaguar advert and he was the guy responsible for developing their Ipace range. He was director of R&D for the Ipace. Left when it went into production years ago

I love jags and have so much to say on this I might split it into 2 posts.

Putting aside the fact that they decided to go all electric which I do not approve, every manufacturer has walked back their headlong suicide mission to fast track electrification, buyers are not buying as much as they were a few years ago when EV's were the new idea.




Second point

When I saw the 2007 Jaguar XF (X250) I said it looks like any other Japanese car, nothing like a Jag, the only thing it had in common with past jags was the name jag.



To top it off, when The XJ was redesigned by Ian Cullum to look nothing like it did , namely the 2009 X351 version I knew the end for jag was coming.
This ugly monstrosity




The only thing that Cullum did right was the F-Type. Everything else produced during his tenure was an absolute fucking piece of ugly junk. No disrespect to you or your brother Adrian.




Third point.

As I said I love jags but who ever thought of closing production to go all electric and up market to compete with Bentley and Aston Martin needs their head seen to.
Especially with an all new range which i have read will consist of 3 models, all electric.
From what I have seen they want to be a niche high end car company,which makes sense that is fine they never could mass produce in the same way as Audi, Mercedes or BMW which I think they should be targeting not Aston and Bentley.

But build on your heritage, history, design language not come up with some crazy ass new logos and alienate your loyal fan base. People buy Jags for the connection to the past, it is an emotional decision. I owned a number of XJ's and not because they were technologically more advanced and better than an E class or S class Benz or even a 5 or 7 series BMW, it was for the looks and warm fuzzy feeling of the link back to the older jags. Jag buyers are not making the decision to buy based on the extra 1 mile fuel economy or raw data.



Fourth point.

Guess what just as electrification is being forced down peoples' throats faster than they can gag, this whole let's all make every gender happy is backfiring too. I am all for everyone living their life as they want, respect is the key. Just stop making every ad campaign, tv show, movie all about genders.

The opening games of the 2024 Paris Olympics is a case in point, it was a fucking disaster.

Or the great Dylan Mulvaney ad campaign which people reacted to negatively and Bud Light sales fell like rocks off a cliff.




Stop trying to reposition your product to seem hip and in tune with the gender debate, that is my point. Stick to selling not forcing people to accept your political or social views. A company is in business to make money not sell a woke idea. They forget that point they end up losing big bucks or going out of business.


I think Jaguar has made a few too many mistakes and is going to suffer for it.

If I didn't know better (and might not to be honest) I might say Tata corporation which owns Jaguar is having a laugh at the iconic British brand for all the years we ruled India.

Look at BMW they bought Rolls Royce and Mini invested heavily, let them do their own thing, the same for Volkswagen, they picked up Bentley let the company build great cars. They run them as a business to make money.

You really see BMW or VW running some dumb ass ad campaign for Rolls or Bentley like this new jag campaign, no way. They are too smart to screw up the image and sales.
