Its official, 2024 is "virtually certain" to be the hottest on record and this time its the first to breach the 1.5C target set by over 200 countries as part of the Paris Climate Agreement



Things are likely to get a LOT worse given that the world's largest economy, USA will likely withdraw from the climate agreement once Trump takes office and implements his new energy policy which he summed up as "drill baby drill"

No. The whole world has spent the last decade investing in renewable energy (ie wind, solar, wave technology etc). And by the whole world, I mean every single country apart from Libya, Iran and Yemen. So that includes countries like China, Russia, India and even North Korea. But all that is about to be undone if Trump does what he did last time and pulls the US out of the agreement

We can all sit here and pick holes in the global efforts against climate change. We can say we dont like EVs, China makes too many batteries or windmills kill the odd bird or two. But the science is staring us in the face. The world is getting hotter and its because of fossil fuels.

And its not just more extreme storms or flooding that we face. Our global food production is also being hit. Up to 1 billion people now live in hunger because of drought and flooding. That's projected to reach 2 billion over the coming years.
