There's no question that Trump is very good at promoting himself and his brand and that's great for a successful businessman / tv star but that has absolutely no bearing when it comes to running a country or global geo-politics.

I am not trying to play down the migrant issue in the US, clearly its an important issue for many Americans but I think we also have to bear in mind that, throughout history, far right politicians have always campaigned on the same issue - immigration. The "foreign invaders", the "flood of outsiders posoning our contry", the concept of "them and us" - its a powerful message that's been played out before.

We saw this back in the days of fascist Italy with the rise of Mussolini and Hitler's Nazi Germany where it was the jews and other "outsiders" that were the cause of all the problems. Today we are seeing a similiar message not just in Trump's America but also in the rise of far right movements in France, Germany, Netherlands and here in the UK, all of them campaigning on the exact same message - "stop the illegal migrants entering our country"

I agree, illegal immigrants and people smuggling needs to be stopped but I think the real question is are immigrants the cause of all the problems faced in America and elsewhere today or is this just the far right using the same tired old message they have used for centuries ?
