Its simple, for the last 2 years Russia has been dropping glide bombs (old soviet era bombs with wings fitted so they glide a long way) from behind their own borders in Kursk knowing that the west has told Ukraine that they couldn't attack into Russia. So they sit behind their borders and launch these bombs knowing that there is nothing Ukraine can do about it. Its like being in a boxing match where you know your opponent has a longer reach but you are told you cant get in close to throw a punchfetishnews wrote: ↑August 21st, 2024, 8:05 amI was going to comment why not stand fight the Russian taking your land and instead go try take theirs. Well now all that has changed, Ukraine has taken control of those areas. Ontop of that, it shows that ALL Putin's red lines have now been crossed and he's done nothing about it because he cant. His military has shown itself to be nothing more than a paper tiger
Now the Blatic countries (Lithouania, Latvia and Estonia) are saying they wont wait for NATO any longer and want to put troops on the ground because they know they are next on Putins hit list. France is considering the same. Germany is pushing to setup a no fly zone in the west of Ukraine using its own patriot systems based in Poland
These videos are really interesting. They analyse the military on BOTH sides, name their sources and explain their conclusions. There's a whole series to do with this war at https://www.youtube.com/@TheMilitaryShow

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are what 6 million plus, I'd say one nuke per country and they would be all gone.tacnet wrote: ↑August 21st, 2024, 5:58 pmNow the Blatic countries (Lithouania, Latvia and Estonia) are saying they wont wait for NATO any longer and want to put troops on the ground because they know they are next on Putins hit list. They would be well advised not to do something that stupid, last time a Polish, French and German army invaded Russia they didn't do too well lol.
I don't know where people come up with the idea Putin wants to invade any country in Europe. Why would he, he has the world's largest country by size and only 145 million people. They are not short of real estate.

Putin wont go nuclear. He knows that crossing that line would mean the end of his regime and probably the kremlin tooTheButcher wrote: ↑August 21st, 2024, 6:09 pmLithuania, Latvia and Estonia are what 6 million plus, I'd say one nuke per country and they would be all gone.tacnet wrote: ↑August 21st, 2024, 5:58 pmNow the Blatic countries (Lithouania, Latvia and Estonia) are saying they wont wait for NATO any longer and want to put troops on the ground because they know they are next on Putins hit list. You could ask why are Russia attacking Ukraine ?? Its got nothing to do with NATO. Putins border with NATO is now twice as long as when the war started and ontop of that, both Finland and Sweden have both joined the aliance (Sweden after hundreds of years of remaining neutral)
They are not doing that for no reason. All these eastern European countries are preparing for war because they know what Putin is after. He is trying to rebuild the soviet union. He has stated many times that the collapse of the soviet union was the biggest betrayal of his life.
With respect, you dont know Putin like us Europeans know him. We've seen the state sponsored murders, the on-going cyber attacks, the billions of dirty money that now owns half of London. I can promise you, Europe is not going to back down on this.... even if we have to put boots on the ground

Putin does not want the whole of Ukraine why put a couple of million troops in a country that the people don't want to be part of Russia, he just wants to make sure the ethnic Russians in the east and south live freely.the people who want to be part of Russia. If the Ukrainian leaders and the west push him he will easily take the whole of Ukraine. Zelesnky should come to his senses he is making a bad situation a terrible one for Ukraine.Attacking Russia is only making Putin go further west and north.BrasSmonkey wrote: ↑August 21st, 2024, 6:40 pmanyhoo the ukraine is equivalent to texas and the united states. it was a state in russia. let us see putin and mother russia go to work!!!

If Putin doesn't want the whole of Ukraine, then why did he roll is his tanks toward Kyiv at the start of the war ??? Why is he attacking Kyiv and western Ukraine right now ???TheButcher wrote: ↑August 21st, 2024, 6:59 pmPutin does not want the whole of Ukraine why put a couple of million troops in a country that the people don't want to be part of Russia, he just wants to make sure the ethnic Russians in the east and south live freely.the people who want to be part of Russia. He is NOT just trying to take the East. Putin has been trying to gain control over Ukraine for ever since they overwhelmingly voted for independance back in 1991 (and that includes those people in the east). The seperatists in the east are being stirred up, funded and armed by Russia. There are countless cases of paid Russian mercenaries (eg wagner group) been found fighting as Ukranian seperatists. Its a classic false flag operation like he used in Chechnya and Georgia
The west will NOT let him take Odessa. That would stop Ukraine being able to export its grain and give Putin control over a third of the worlds food supply. Europe has just spent billions getting ourselves OFF Russian gas, we are not now going to hand him control over the world's food instead
Also NATO has NOT been pushing east. All these former eastern block countries came running to NATO because of Putin's agressive expansionism. They are free and indepentant sovereign states that simply want to protect their democracies. And why should Putin be able to dictate what path any sovereign state chooses ?

They were part of the Soviet Union and have been independant since 1991. By that logic, you might aswell say that Russia should have control over Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Maldova and all the other former eastern block countriesBrasSmonkey wrote: ↑August 21st, 2024, 6:40 pmanyhoo the ukraine is equivalent to texas and the united states. it was a state in russia. let us see putin and mother russia go to work!!!

You have to remember, Putin has been trying to gain control over Ukraine for DECADES. Long before this war or even the invasion of Crimea
First he tried to poison the president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko. When that didn't work, he threatened the new president Viktor Yanukovych to stop him signing a trade deal eith the EU. That led to mass protests throughout the country and in the end, Yanukovych fled the country. That's when Putin decided to invade Crimea and, because the west let him get away with it, he has now come back to try and take the rest of the country by force
This is exactly what he did in Georgia and Chechnya. Putin wants to be a superpower again but he has neither the population nor the economy to warrant it. And now the world has seen that his military doesn't warrant it either

bbq nite no power....
Kyiv and Kharkiv, the two biggest cities in Ukraine, were among those struck in what a top official called a “massive Russian attack” that also hit energy infrastructure.
Russia launched a barrage of missiles and drones at Ukraine on Monday, killing at least three people, the Ukrainian authorities said, with explosions rocking major cities, including the capital, Kyiv. Energy infrastructure was also targeted in the attacks, officials said.
“The attack of the enemy strike drones continues. Stay in shelters,” the Ukrainian Air Force said in one of a series of Telegram posts issued as different cities were hit.
In addition to Kyiv, the country’s second-biggest city, Kharkiv, and the western city of Lviv were also hit. Air raid alerts sounded in many places. “There are six Tu-22M3 aircraft in the air,” another air force message on social media said, referring to Russian bombers that can launch missiles.
The strikes came a day after a barrage of attacks on the eastern city of Kramatorsk. A member of a Reuters news agency team, a British safety adviser, was killed in the city when a missile struck the hotel where he was staying, Reuters said. Two Reuters journalists were also wounded in the strike.
Ukraine launched a surprise incursion into the Kursk region of Russia on Aug. 6, seeking to shift the dynamics of the war, and President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia had pledged a decisive response. It was not clear whether the attacks on Monday signaled part of that retaliation or whether Moscow was seeking to increase the pace of its military gains this year in the east of the country.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal of Ukraine said that 15 of the country’s 24 regions had been hit in what he called a “massive Russian attack” using cruise missiles, drones and other weapons. “There are wounded and dead,” he said, adding that Russia had also targeted the energy sector.
The Ukrainian minister of energy, Herman Halushchenko, told local news media that the attack had been a continuation of long-running strikes on energy infrastructure, causing emergency blackouts. “The enemy is not abandoning its plans to deprive Ukrainians of electricity,” he said.
Efforts to cripple Ukraine’s power grid began in the fall of 2022 and intensified in March of this year with strikes on power plants. Earlier attacks had aimed largely at transformer stations. By last month, nearly all Ukraine’s thermal power plants and a third of hydroelectric power stations had been destroyed.
Ukraine, which is ramping up production of an arsenal of domestically made, long-range exploding drones, has retaliated by blowing up fuel tanks and oil refineries in Russia.
Russia has been attacking Ukrainian cities with missiles and drones every few days in addition to daily barrages of artillery, mortar fire and missiles in areas near the front lines. On July 8, a missile slammed into Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital, which is in Kyiv, putting it out of action without killing any children. On the same day, attacks across the capital killed more than 30 people.
On Monday, a Russian attack damaged an apartment building in the city of Lutsk in northwestern Ukraine, the city’s mayor, Ihor Polishchuk, posted on social media. He later said that one person had been killed. A 69-year-old man also died in the Dnipropetrovsk region of southern Ukraine, according to the governor, Serhii Lysak, while the governor of the Zaporizhzhia region, Ivan Fedorov, said that a man had died in an attack there.
The Ukrainian casualty reports could not be confirmed independently and the Russian Defense Ministry, which typically remains silent about attacks it conducts against cities and other civilian targets in Ukraine, said nothing on its own Telegram channel.
More than 10,000 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since Russia launched its full scale invasion in February, 2022, according to United Nations data.
The war has also been deadly for news personnel. On Sunday, Reuters identified the security adviser who was killed in the hotel as Ryan Evans, without providing more information. A Reuters article said that Mr. Evans, 38, was a former soldier who had been working with the news agency since 2022.
On Monday, the Ukrainian authorities were struggling to cope with infrastructure problems apparently related to the air attacks. The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported power and water outages in some parts of the city, and the head of the regional administration in Lviv, Maksym Kozytskyi, also reported power outages
