I think it's best to check with the hotel first, as most places have policies about filming. I had a friend who tried something similar, and it didn't go well because they didn't ask beforehand. Just a heads up!

If you avoid any logos,visible signs of the hotel name then a room is a room i know one producer who has done a lot of videos in hotels.

That is how they do it and it seems fair if you are not filming other people or the common areas. A room is a room.
