I just saw this on CNN too and I was surprised. If its NOT a transgender issue then what other "unspecified gender eligibility test" is there ???? If she's a woman then she should be allowed to compete regardless of her levels of testosterone or whateverTheButcher wrote: ↑August 2nd, 2024, 10:19 am"‘This is not a transgender issue’: IOC addresses Olympic boxing controversy
Imane Khelif of Algeria won her opening Olympic boxing bout when opponent Angela Carini of Italy quit after just 46 seconds. Khelif was disqualified from the 2023 world championships after failing an unspecified gender eligibility test, and her presence at the Paris Olympics has become a divisive issue. CNN's Patrick Snell reports."

Khelif is one of two athletes who have been cleared to compete in the women's boxing in Paris, despite having been disqualified from last year's Women's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria.
The 25-year-old's participation in the Games has proved controversial, leading the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to defend her right to compete.
"All this controversy makes me sad," Carini told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I'm sorry for my opponent, too. If the IOC said she can fight, I respect that decision."
Carini, also 25, said abandoning the fight had been a mature step to take, but she expressed regret at not shaking hands with Khelif afterwards.
"It wasn't something I intended to do," Carini said. "Actually, I want to apologise to her and everyone else. I was angry because my Olympics had gone up in smoke."
She added that if she met Khelif again, she would "embrace her".
After taking a punch to the face inside 30 seconds during Thursday's fight, Carini went to the corner for her coach to fix her headgear. After briefly resuming, she returned to her corner once more and stopped the fight.
Carini later told BBC Sport: "It could have been the match of a lifetime, but I had to preserve my life as well in that moment."
The Russia-led International Boxing Association (IBA), which carried out the tests last year, said Khelif "failed to meet the eligibility criteria for participating in the women's competition, as set and laid out in the IBA regulations".
Khelif has always competed in the women's division and is recognised by the IOC as a female athlete.
"The Algerian boxer was born female, was registered female, lived her life as a female, boxed as a female, has a female passport," IOC spokesperson Mark Adams said on Friday."

Enlighten me what transgender has anything to do in this case. Why wasImane Khelif of Algeria Khelif was disqualified from the 2023 world championships after failing an unspecified gender eligibility test" if according to this article on the BBC "The Algerian boxer was born female, was registered female, lived her life as a female, boxed as a female, has a female passport," IOC spokesperson Mark Adams said on Friday.""
I assume she is a woman so why was she disqualified in 2023 and what has her opponent leaving the fight have anything to do with her gender or sex?
What am I missing here.
Okay 2 points I want to make.
1. I support everyone to live their life how they want, as long as they do not impact me or anyone else ina negative way.
2. I do NOT support trans women competing in women's sports, it's a simple fact if you are born male and have male testosterone, a bigger and stronger skeletal and muscle structure you will have a big advantage over women.

Why else would the Russian dominated IBA (headed in Moscow) state that she was a guy when subsequent tests have proven that shes a woman ????

Its classic Russian missinformatoin to try and stir up anti wokism. They want people to think that we let guys compete in women's boxing
They've been doing it for years and its how they influence our politics. Pretty much every intelligence agency on the planet knows that all too well
