Musk is aiming for Mars not the moon, I might be wrong on this one.tacnet wrote: ↑June 18th, 2024, 1:56 pmI think your probably right for a permanent moon base. 2035 sounds more realistic but I DO think there will be a manned moon mission within the next year or two. SpaceX are not launching that huge Starship over and over for no reason, and its sole purpose is to get to the moon. The question is will China try and beat them to it ???chilli.domains wrote: ↑June 18th, 2024, 10:03 amIt seems the original space race between the Russians and us has become china and us. 2030 seems a little too soon maybe 2035.tacnet wrote: ↑June 17th, 2024, 8:16 pm
Actually there is no such thing LOL. What we call the dark side of the moon is just the part of the moon that we cant see from earth but it gets lit up by the sun in just the same way as the near side
Apparently both the US and China have stated that they will have a permanently manned moon base by 2030. Obviously this could just be political bluster as every president since Nixon has said we are going back to the moon but with relations the way they are, a new space race might not be a bad thing. Rather have the US and China racing to the moon again than fighting a war
It only seems like a few years ago that we were working together with China and Russia on the ISS but even that is no longer a project we cooperate on and its due to be de-orbited in Jan 2031
China landed Chang'e 6 on darkside of moon, Boeing Starliner astronaught launch no go

Yes he is but via the moon. The idea is we would first build a manned moon base as its a lot cheaper to lift off from the moon in only 1/6th earths gravity. We would use the ice at the lunar poles to manufacture hyrdogen (rocket fuel) and oxygen (breathable air) and then launch from the moon to Mars
Interesting fact, because of the way the orbits of Mars and Earth work, any extended stay on Mars would mean that the astronaughts would have to spend months on the other side of the sun, completely cut off from everyone on earth and with no way of contacting anybody. Imagine that, your the only humans on Mars and your completely cut off from the rest of humanity. Just like Matt Damon in The Martian film

Who would risk going to Mars let alone be cut off from any contact with earth for that long.tacnet wrote: ↑June 19th, 2024, 12:18 amYes he is but via the moon. "CNN — Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft was set to mark its crowning achievement this month: Ferrying two NASA astronauts on a round trip to the International Space Station, proving the long-delayed and over-budget capsule is up for the task.
Starliner is halfway to that goal.
But the two veteran astronauts piloting this test flight are now in a tentative position — extending their stay aboard the space station for a second time while engineers on the ground scramble to learn more about issues that plagued the first leg of their journey.
Spaceflight veterans Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore arrived at the space station aboard the Starliner on June 6. NASA initially projected their stay would last about a week.
But troubles the vehicle experienced en route, including helium leaks and thrusters that abruptly stopped working, have raised questions about how the back half of the mission will play out.
Williams and Wilmore will now return no earlier than June 26, NASA announced Tuesday, stretching their mission to at least 20 days as engineers race to gain a better understanding of the spacecraft’s problems while it’s safely attached to the space station.
Officials have said there is no reason to believe Starliner won’t be able to bring the astronauts back home, though “we really want to work through the remainder of the data,” said Steve Stich, NASA’s Commercial Crew Program manager, at a Tuesday news conference. "

It's a couple hundred plus miles above earth and not come home on time, you think we went to the moon 55 years ago and back with old tech?

I hope they make it back safe and sound.
Did we go to the moon, only a drunk will say we did.

I hope they get back home safely, imagine having to ride back after the delay knowing there was a problem with the space craft that is why they stayed up there longer.bestfreeporn wrote: ↑June 26th, 2024, 5:23 amThe 2 astronauts that were supposed to stay on the ISS for a week are still there the craft has some issues

There's other ways to get back from the ISS - SpaceX or the Russian Soyuz
To those who say we didn't go to the moon, I ask one simple question - How do you get 400,000 people to keep a secret like that for over 50 years ????? I mean, in all that time not ONE person has come forward and said "yes we faked it and here's the proof"
You couldn't get 10 people to keep a secret that big for that long. Let alone 400,000 people which is how many worked on the Apollo project
Wake up and stop believing is wild social media conspiracy theories

Yes sir they will not be stranded on the space station there are options. The 400K all keeping quiet about it would be pretty hard.tacnet wrote: ↑June 27th, 2024, 1:37 pmThere's other ways to get back from the ISS - SpaceX or the Russian Soyuz

The lift off and landing seems honest they could have been circling the earth all that time.TheButcher wrote: ↑June 27th, 2024, 1:43 pmYes sir they will not be stranded on the space station there are options. Since the late 2000s, Russia, China, India and Japan have ALL imaged the Apollo landing sites using their OWN lunar probes and their OWN deep space communications
For example, this image was taken by India's Chandrayaan-2 probe in 2021 and clearly shows the Apollo 11 landing site

Now either you believe that all these countries are STILL taking part in some massive conspiracy thats lasted over 50 years (and we are talking about Russia and China here, America's biggest adversaries), OR this is clear evidence that we DID land on the moon !!!

Unmanned landings might have happened can you prove men went to the moon and survived the Van Allen radiation belts i that flimsy tin foil covered craft.tacnet wrote: ↑June 29th, 2024, 9:27 pmSince the late 2000s, Russia, China, India and Japan have ALL imaged the Apollo landing sites using their OWN lunar probes and their OWN deep space communications
