The idea of living on the moon is so idiotic,if you can not breath the air and walk on a place you really want to go there.

Ina. nut shell, we complain about the UV index and smog in LA, that pales in comparison to being on the moon where you can not go out live without a space suit and oxygen.

Actually there is no such thing LOL. What we call the dark side of the moon is just the part of the moon that we cant see from earth but it gets lit up by the sun in just the same way as the near side

Apparently both the US and China have stated that they will have a permanently manned moon base by 2030. Obviously this could just be political bluster as every president since Nixon has said we are going back to the moon but with relations the way they are, a new space race might not be a bad thing. Rather have the US and China racing to the moon again than fighting a war

It seems the original space race between the Russians and us has become china and us. 2030 seems a little too soon maybe 2035.

I think your probably right for a permanent moon base. 2035 sounds more realistic but I DO think there will be a manned moon mission within the next year or two. SpaceX are not launching that huge Starship over and over for no reason, and its sole purpose is to get to the moon. The question is will China try and beat them to it ???

It only seems like a few years ago that we were working together with China and Russia on the ISS but even that is no longer a project we cooperate on and its due to be de-orbited in Jan 2031

Interestingly enough US and Russia are part of the ISS but the4 US banned China from participating or sending their nationals there.

Wasn't aware of that ? Is that a recent thing then ? I thought China was an active participant in it

The US said no to China taking part in the ISS.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_ ... ce_Station

"China is not an ISS partner, and no Chinese nationals have been aboard. China has its own contemporary human space program, China Manned Space Program, and has carried out co-operation and exchanges with countries such as Russia and Germany in human and robotic space projects.[40][41] China launched its first experimental space station,[42] Tiangong 1, in September 2011,[43] and has officially initiated the permanently crewed Chinese space station project since 2021.[44]

In 2007, Chinese vice-minister of science and technology Li Xueyong said that China would like to participate in the ISS.[45] In 2010, ESA Director-General Jean-Jacques Dordain stated his agency was ready to propose to the other 4 partners that China be invited to join the partnership, but that this needs to be a collective decision by all the current partners.[46] While ESA is open to China's inclusion, the US is against it.[47] US concerns over the transfer of technology that could be used for military purposes echo similar concerns over Russia's participation prior to its membership."
