Build your site and brand on a dot com by all means register other TLD's for your site if you want. I see so many sites including paysites and programs with various tld's and the related dot com is already in use. I would never start a site on any extensiuon but a dot com, you want to get additional domains with the name that is fine. For example I started the board on sponsorchat.com and have sponsorchat.net and sponsor.chat

But I would never in a million years start the site on anything but the dot com.

My first reaction to a domain name is to type out .com after it. I am sure it is the same for most people.

The .com variant is always more valuable than the rest

My rule of thumb for a dot net is 5-10% of the price of the dot com of the same name.

Only a total novice will start a site on a domain where the .com is already taken.

Your main site has to be a dot com not another tld
