I like bikes as long as they stop thinking they are gods chosen form of transportation so they can zig zag between cars and not stop at red lights. They seem to believe they are above the rules of the road.

One more point it never cease to amaze me when I see cyclists wearing a face mask.

Exactly. Where I live (Oxford, UK) we have tens of thousands of electric scooters that people can hire via an app and they are all over the road. The other day I saw a girl on one going down a busy street whilst texting. No helmet, no insurance or anything like that. And God help you if you hit one as they really throw the book at you

They do the job but not as effective if you like to exercise while biking.

I've been riding for over 40 years.

Even went 8 months without a car when working a couple of miles from AVN. I would have loved to have a battery assist of some kind back then.

I've tried an e-bike. It was fun, but presently, I don't feel the need to blow the cash on a new e-bike. And I'm not in the mood to dedicate time for a conversion (although I've had some fun looking ideas).

That out of the way and to address your quote, I have a saying, "don't ride like you drive." We had a bad problem in LA after the 2008 market crash of young adults couldn't afford cars, so they adapted by purchasing "fixie" messenger bikes. No brakes, no gear shift. The problem is everyone rode their bikes as if they had the safety protection of a car, and all the bad judgement. It's pure darwinism in action. E-bikes make this worse, as there's less reaction time for drivers, longer distance for cyclists to stop safely, and higher likely of fatality in a crash.

LA has a huge problem with bicycle and pedestrian deaths. We'd love to get more people on two wheels and recently began changing the roads for safer bike lanes. But it doesn't stop riders from being entitled idiots. And unlike 2008, most young adults have the credit to buy expensive gasoline and death machines. So it's going to take more to get people out of their cars.

PS: Atomic Cycles on Saticoy in Porn Valley has a specific sign out they will have nothing to do with e-bikes. They will not sell ebikes, repair them, or having anything to do with those who ride them. It appears this has come down to a combination of attitude problems, liability, and serious disgust at greenwashing.

Pedal bike, electric bike or traditional gasoline power bike, please wear a helmet. You fall off at any speed you are risking brain injury or death. I have a friend her son was just riding around on a pedal bike and got hit by a car he went flying into a light pole and died.

Get them off the roads I hate having one show up out of no where when I am making a turn, they just come off the sidewalk and nearly cause an accident.
