I coudn't agree more. Personally I think politicians like to beat up on the porn industry because they think it will win votes. Here in Europe we've seen several bills going to parliament that promise to "clean up the internet" by forcing porn sites to verify a users age and every time they realise (at the last minute) that it WONT WORK and the whole thing dies a death !!

Parental controls is the only way to do it but that doesn't win as many votes as beating up on the porn industry
