do warning pages hurt seo

So many adult sites have an adult warning that opens up when you go to the site, does this hurt seo, next question what is the point to these warning pages, what does it do for you legally.

Yep we've had to put one on https://www.tacamateurs.com/ as part of MC/Visa requirements. Its just a javascript modal window though so it doesn't affect SEO

It shows you tried to warn them that it is an adult site , what legal protections it affords I do not think it does much.

Apart form the Visa/Mastercard requirements they show good intent to warn minors and those offended by sexual material on the site.

As I understand it, there is no legal requirement for a warning page. After all, the internet is global so who's law would apply ?? Its only if you want to accept credit card payments that MC/Visa insist you have a warning notice.

My advice is to combine it with the cookie notice and use implied consent (ie. as soon as you display the notice, set the cookie that they have accepted it. Dont wait for them to click a button. That way, the notice is only displayed once and if they do anything other than close the browser, you can consider that implied consent)

No Google will index the very first page in the root of the domain no matter what you have on it
