Google Chrome to end 3rd party cookies this year
Later on this year Google's Chrome browser will put an end to 3rd party cookies.
This will impact how affiliate sales are tracked in my opinion.

We need to hear what sponsors think of this and what they will do about tracking referrals

You can always clear your cache and history why is it such a problem for anyone especially now that websites are required to ask the end users permission on cookies.

You know how programs mess with affiliates by the length of the cookie.

I stand to be corrected but years ago i read something that Firefox stopped allowing 3rd party cookies you could allow them on a one of one case for sites.bestfreeporn wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 7:33 pmWhat about my fav browser FireFox will they do the same?

This shouldn't affect sponsors as 3rd party cookies have been blocked for years
A 3rd party cookie is a cookie that is set by a domain that is different from the domain that the user is looking at. Most sponsors will only set the cookie once the user has clicked on something to goto the sponsor's domain.
So long as the domain setting the cookie is the same domain that handles the checkout then everything will work ok
BUT BE WARNED - A common scam with sponsors is where, for example, they use CCBill's affiliate system but then on the checkout page, they have multiple credit card options including Epoch, Paypal etc. That means ONLY those users that checkout with CCBill will be credited to the affiliate. All the rest will go directly to the sponsor with NO affiliate attached

No they cant add further cookies but if they want to add further checkout options then they need to stop using CCBill's affiliate system and use something like NATs instead. Then they can set their own cookies and it doesn't matter what checkout option they useSneaky wrote: ↑April 2nd, 2024, 12:15 pmBut do they really have any other choice on adding further cookies?tacnet wrote: ↑April 2nd, 2024, 12:09 pmThis shouldn't affect sponsors as 3rd party cookies have been blocked for years

This is surprisingly common. Last year one of our webmodels re-directed her personal website to her TAC site after her webmaster passed away. She has hundreds of ccbill affiliates (many of who still send her traffic) but none of them are getting paid. We even contacted CCBill to see if they would give us a list of her affiliates so we could contact them and get them to change their links. But because of data protection laws, ccbill coudn't give us the information so there's a whole bunch of ccbill affiliates that are still sending her traffic and gettng nothing for it
