how to get out of a wedding

Truth is I hardly talk to my cousin and he's getting married tomorrow, the expected gift is at least $350 cash since it's an expensive do at the Sheraton. I really do not want to go nor pay the $350 'Entrance fee' gift. What are good excuses.

If you want to go do it, buy a reasonable gift or put some cash. If you do not want to go well that is your decision. I never liked the idea where they put cash in lieu of gift. Personally i think it is cheap, tacky and not right. If you do a wedding it is your day, you might want to go all out have spend a couple of hundred thousand dollars on it, if you can not afford it then do one you can afford. Expecting your family, friends and guests to fork out money for your wedding is rude. What is even worse is when they have someone let it be known how much it is going to cost so the attendees know what would be expected in cash. It is ridiculous but I see it happen all the time.

let me start by saying we have a lot of friends and family, every Summer I am invited to 5 or 6 weddings, you go as a couple and they expect you to fork out $500-$600 each time it gets pricey. Second it doesn't end there, first they throw a lavish engagement party in some hotel, restaurant or hall, there you go pull out the wallet. Then they have a friggin bridal shower, money time. They they have a baby shower, a gender reveal party......You get my point.

Top it off this Summer my friend is having his sons wedding in Rome, you really think I am going all the way to Rome for a week you must be kidding. You want to have your wedding overseas great, have a small wedding ceremony at home you take off on a honey moon or take your family where ever you want.

The next guy who wants to get married has to keep up with his family and friends, if he can't well he just doesn't get married ends up living with his girlfriend.

i knew some goth people that did it. i think i went to one and it creeped me out... the wedding i got like a blender or coffee maker. walmart has nice ones! 20 bucks! put in a medium box wrap it really nice. not really cheating it helps to avoid the invitation

Here is what I will do if it was me, go take a big envelope with a card in it, wish them a happy marriage write in there my presence must mean a lot to you for inviting me I am sure no amount of money in this card would have been enough thanks for having me!

Weddings are expensive- you have the dress, limo, church, flowers, invitations, catering or food, hall, music, photographer, you invite a 100 people you are easily looking at $25K.

a wedding gives you nothing but a sense of self-importance. That is, the illusion of self

A gift is what you want it to be, you are not under pressure to put more than you want or can afford. Put the cash you are okay with and go.

people that give cash don't give a shit about anyone most of them anyway. not taking time to get something they would like... the george foreman i think would be best. to folks just married workin hard. a set and forget it. a crockpot and crockpot recipe book is my second choice!
