Why do some models including ones who are on webcams refer to themselves on social media as "Sex workers?"

If you are not having sex aka let's say as an "escort" then it makes no sense to call yousrelf a sex worker. Or did I miss some thing here?

because “prostitution” and “prostitute” are illegal and people look bad on the words. kind of like TBN is the largest Christian Television Network in the world. they use the term "love gifts" instead of "donations" and "gifts" for legal purposes.
