copyright notice date

I'm wondering if I put copyright 2018 in the footer of my blog, do I need to update that each year for it to be valid, also will WP automatically update it every year.

just update it annually -- wp won't do it automatically -- don't know if there is a plugin for such or not

In WP you may have to place it in one of their wrappers or there used to be a plugin that would enable you to use PHP that is not in their format so to speak, anyway this will automatically show the current year (assuming your servers year is set correctly)

I just paste |copyright site name" no date.

Make it the current year is what i do, I leave for example 2012-2018.
