The one thing we learnt from covid is that NOTHING we did could stop it. Closing borders, travel restrictions, lockdowns or any of that didn't make ANY difference. We might have slowed it down for a while but in the end, it hit every singly country on the planet.

We were lucky with covid. Most animal virus will evolve to NOT to kill their host (those that do kill their host are less likely to spread). But thats NOT true with a human virus as infectious as covid. By the time it kills the host, its already spread to hundreds more people. Luckily omicron proved to be far less deadly than the original covid

We HAVE to be prepared for the next outbreak because if its anything like SARs or MERs then hundreds of millions of people will die

If the virus or bacteria has not been identified they can;t do much in advance unless they have a crystal ball.

Agreed they cant produce a full vaccine but there is a certain amount they can do. For example, they know that its likely to be another coronavirus and with this new RNA technology (the same technology they used to produce the Pfeizer vaccine) they can produce a generic vaccine and then simply tweak it to whatever strain is the next pandemic. That's what the WHO is asking the world to do which makes sense to me
