There's a few "on page" things you can do before you go hunting for backlinks. Most of them are pretty obvious eg

• 1- Make your text relevant to the seacrh phrases you are looking for. (Dont use keyword stuffing or other spamming techniques)

• 2- If possible, use your search phrase text in heading tags ie <h1> <h2> etc

• 3- Make sure your page speed score is as high as possible using google's https://pagespeed.web.dev/. Google uses pagespeed as a high ranking factor these days

• 4- Give your users a reason to come back. This is most important and one that many sites miss. Dont just hit them with banners as soon as they walk through the door. Give them what they want in as few clicks as possible. That way they are likely to search your domain again

• 5 - Test your site with a tool like https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/. This will show you your full site structure together with any SEO errors you might have on site

Once you've done all that, then go hunting for backlinks. As previous mentioned https://ahrefs.com/backlink-checker is a good starting place

You can either buy backlinks or, if you are a sponsor, setup an affiliate program and pay affiliates to backlink to your site

If you do all this right, then eventually you will find that your biggest search term is your domain name. If its not, then you've still got work to do
