EU says yes to Ukraine becoming a member state

#1

Post by Big MOE » December 14th, 2023, 7:43 pm

"BRUSSELS — The European Union on Thursday agreed to open membership talks with Ukraine, an important sign of support at a moment when battlefield progress has stalled and U.S. commitment to continued funding for the war has wavered.

Full E.U. membership for Ukraine is realistically many years away, and E.U. leaders gathered in Brussels were still debating an aid package for Kyiv worth more than $50 billion, money seen as critical for Ukraine to keep fighting."

Maybe now they will do more and we can spend less money on Ukraine. It's closer to them let them worry about it.

Your thinking of NATO

The US is only providing 0.33% of GDP in aid to Ukraine. Thats less than a lot of other EU countries

are they fucking crazy??? :? that will mean they are in direct war with russia. they have to not be at war when they join. it's not rocket science. "If Ukraine became an EU member while the war with Russia was ongoing, EU countries would have to respect that. The EU would also acquire a long new border with Russia and Belarus, with implications for security, migration and defence.11 hours ago"

My guess they can not join until the war is over and I just said it will be decades so the war will be over that is a moot point. Ukraine has been called the most corrupt country in the world, that might be a gibber problem for them.

No your getting confused between EU and NATO

A country cant join NATO whilst its at war but it can join the EU

Either way they are a long way off doing either

op your title is fake....

vblogger is right

“It's a completely senseless, irrational and incorrect decision to start negotiations with Ukraine under these circumstances,” he said. EU accession remains a long and arduous process and many observers say it could take Ukraine until at least 2035 to join the bloc, if momentum behind the decision remains.5 hours ago

I doubt either of them will ever join, but 100% sure Turkey will never be accepted I have said this before, the EU is. Predominantly Christian club and they will not take a Muslim country
