I read on the news they announced a presidential election in early in 2024 if the Russian people are not happy with their current president they will elect some one else, that is how it works. We will see who they elect, if they elect Putin that tells you they are happy with the way he is leading their country.
LOL your joking. Running for re-election against who ??????

The main opposition leader (Alexei Nevalny) has been locked up in prison for 19 years for trying to expose corruption in Putin's government. That was after Putin tried to poison him with Novichok (a chemical nerve agent) but when that failed, he declared the party an extremist organisation and had all the leaders thrown in jail.

Prior to that, another opposition leader (Boris Nemtsov) was shot dead just yards from the Kremlin the day before he was due to lead an anti-Putin March. Conveniently, all the Kremlin's CCTV cameras that would have filmed the incident were turned off that day for "maintenance"

Thats not to mention people like Alexander Litvinenko (poisoned with Polonium 210 - one of the most deadliest substances on the planet - after criticising Putin's regime), Boris Berezovsky (found hanged in his bathroom after publicly opposing Putin) and of course Prigozhin who we all wacthed when his plane fell out of the sky a few months back

Of course Putin is going to win. Anybody who tries to run against him ends up dead or in jail.
it's a dictatorship. there is a president that has no power    he was voted in!
Putin IS the president and he was never voted in. He was made acting president by Boris Yeltsin when he retired due to ill health (something Yeltsin later regretted)

Since then Putin has taken total control of Russian media and has jailed or killed ALL his opponents

Ive just seen on CNN that Alexei Navalny (the main opposition leader in Russia and Putin's biggest political threat) has been reported "missing" from prison.

"Lawyers for Alexey Navalny said Monday they have lost contact with the jailed Russian opposition leader, who was believed to be imprisoned in a penal colony about 150 miles east of Moscow, and his whereabouts are unknown. "

It wouldn't surprise me if Putin has had him killed before the upcoming election

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/12/11/euro ... index.html

Here is what I think. Such a high profile inmate can not disappear from prison. My thoughts on this are:

1. The story is fabricated or fake.
2. If they wanted him dead he would have been dead years ago, but obviously they don't want a new fiasco and press on Navalny. He's in prison out the news cycles.
3. Even now he could easily do an "Epstein" commit suicide in prison.
4. But more likely this story is fabricated so when they do make contact with him, and then he "Commits suicide" they'll have plausible deniability and say you guys made up a story in the past where he was lost and now you want us to believe we killed him?

My point is you will eventually have to explain where he went, if he committed suicide it's easier to explain than he vanished into thin air.

Who says he has disappeared into thin air, I don't see why they would try convince the public he just vanished. He has to be where he was, see my previous replies.

I dont believe its fake. Just watched Nevalny's daughter being interviewed on CNN about it.

You have to bear in mind that Putin has total control of the state media so none of this is being reported in Russia. They have no idea that he has gone missing and I think Putin is long past feeling he has to explain himself to anyone. He already tried to poison Nevalny with Novichok (Putin's calling card)

Here in the UK we've had dozens of examples of Putin's critics being murdered. I watched a documentary the other day and even Garry Kasparov (the world famous chess champion) is living in fear of his life after criticising Putin.

Putin has a long history of murdering his critics but more recently he has become more and more brazen. He WANTS the world to know that it was him. Look at what happenned to Prigozhin in that apparent "plane crash" the other month. The whole world knows Putin was behind it and yet nobody in Russia will dare challenge him. If he could do that to somebody as high profile as Prigozhin, then he wouldn't think twice about someone like Nevalny who he has already had locked up in prison

Somehow this man has to be stopped !

Reading these types of news stories makes me proud to be an American. Our country does not discriminate against lgbtq members of our society.

Just seen an update on this on the news.

Navalny (Putin's main political opponent) is still MISSING 3 weeks later. No explanation from the authorities as to where he is or if even if he is alive. The last that was heard (over a month ago) is that he was being transferred to a harsh maximum security prison somewhere in Siberia. Neither his family or his lawyers have been able to establish contact. All this came just 2 days after Putin announced he was running for re-election. Obviously Putin wants him out the way or dead

Imagine if Biden had Trump locked up in some maximum secirity prison and simply refused to tell anybody where he was ????

Yet another reason why the west should NOT be friends with Putin !
