"Comedian and actor Russell Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse during a seven-year period at the height of his fame.

The allegations were made in a joint investigation by the Sunday Times, the Times and Channel 4's Dispatches.

Four women are alleging sexual assaults between 2006 and 2013.

Brand has denied the allegations and said his relationships have been "always consensual"."

I have no idea what the reality is but I will say this, innocent until proven guilty. I did see he put out a statement yesterday saying he expected some criminal accusations to be made about him very soon. Having seen his podcasts and appearances at various programs I know he has led let's say a colourful life with women, drugs and alcohol. That does not mean non-consensual sex so let’s not jump to conclusions. But he has sobered up and talked about his drug use and how he over came that period in his life.

Doing drugs or used alcohol is not something I condone but that does not make you a rapist. He has said himself on numerous occasions about his past love life and sex life, again that does not mean rape. Not saying the accusations are false but at the same time not saying they are true, if there are charges brought against him let's wait until he gets his day in court.

He started out as a comedian and was very successful at at, he transitioned into talking about politics, social issues and what he considers right and wrong with society. Something to keep in mind.

I hope he is not charged, he is not found guilty but whatever is the truth I hope that comes out in court not be judged by the public media space. Everybody deserves justice including the victims if there are any.

These are serious accusations I am no lawyer and have not played one on tv but what i will say is anytime you are in a situation as this do the following. Shut up do not say a word and lawyer up. It matters not what the public opinion thinks of you what counts is if formal charges are brought against you.

The age of consent in the United Kingdom is 16, that is the age at which you can legally have sex. Whether you feel it is too young or not that is a different matter. Now according to this Sky News article

Not saying it is true or not but making some observations. When you are young the age difference is much more important and obvious to you, a 16 year old going out with a 30 year old is not the same as a 60 year old going with a 16 year older guy.
Secondly it is alleged that he sent cars to pick her up from school to go have sex with him, if I was the young woman in question I would not go back to an older man's house who had sexually abused me.

I hope the truth comes out in court because now i can very well see how criminal charges will be coming. Screw the court of public opinion, Brand needs to clear his name in court and set the record straight. Or be charged with relevant crimes but for the time being I would shut up, let my lawyers do the talking.
