What happened to all the designers and coders?
Hi All
I was around since 2004, I remember back 2015-ish and the amount of developers and coders, you never had an issue finding one. Now, I'm seeing a select few of people charging unreasonable rates for coding/mods for scripts. Anyone got any recommendations for coders/developers who charge a reasonable rate? The stuff I'm asking to do is not rocket science, should take a guy an hour max

Let me see, I asked 3 designers ( I use that word very loosely) for a quote to redo the forum look and colours, one said $1200 the other told me he is waiting for management to quote a price. I really do not think there is anyone but himself so what mystical management he was referring to must have been in his imagination, he came back 3 weeks later with a price of $200 which seemed very fair, I asked him how long it would take to complete and still waiting 16 days since he replied he would get back to me. Definitely not going this this clown I think it will take years for him to do the work at this pace. The third one said he needs $75 for his time to look and quote a price since phpBB is a complicated script, that fact that you just change the colours on the colours.css file told me he had no damn idea what he was talking about.
This is just my own experience in the past couple of months. My honest opinion most designers and again I use that word very loosely they are broke because they are too lazy to pull their finger out their ass and work.
Good luck.

they all moved out of adult , there is not much to be made selling coding and design work in adult , also alot of the cheaper coders due to legal reasons will not touch anything adult.
in non adult i know of a few designers and coders.

I understand coders may not want small jobs but was so much easier to find people to do odd 50/100 dollar jobs now and again. Now you need to spend thousands of they don't reply because it's not worth their time
I wonder what fiver or freelancer is like

Things aren't cheap. In today's world, a professional web designer should make anywhere between $25-$35 an hour. Freelancers with less skills between $15-$25 an hour.
Coders of PHP / Javascript and other languages should probably be making around $30-$40 an hour.
Developing a website from the ground up is no easy simple two week task. That's why it's called 'developing' ... The same goes for php coders and other language programmers. Things take time and time is money.
It's not as simple as I just need 'this' that should not take any longer than 2 or 3 hours. People that request those types of services should be prepared to spend at least $300-$500 just for a small job. And for most it is not even worth their time to take a small job. It can take many hours just to figure out some other script and figure it out before a professional can begin making adjustments to complete the task.
I have developed a couple non adult sites for clients and I won't touch another one for any less than $2500 just for a website. Depending on it's required contents and complexities, it can take a month or even two or three. That does not include graphics. I do not do graphics. I do not do back end mysql databases either. I can make a flatfile php database that will work for a website, but a database programmer would be needed to create an actual mysql database for the site to plug in to as well as any backend admins for the site owner to login to and make updates.
I think most that request a developers services just do not understand what all goes into creating a website from the ground up, with all of the background things that are required for a quality website. And that does not include graphic design. Graphic designers are a total separate thing.
