Getting there was one thing but to actually start construction would have taken dozens of missions. There was no 3D printing back then and they would have had to haul all the raw materials from earth which would have cost BILLIONS !

And consider this - if it was faked, the Russians would have found out by now !

The Russians tracked Apollo 11 all the way to the moon and back. They were picking up all the radio transmissions just like everybody else was and if they thought, for one moment, that it was faked they would have been screaming it from the hill tops

Yeah thats probably true but the batteries are getting smaller and more efficient all the time. My brother works for Landrover/Jaguar and apparently the batteries now are half the size they were a few years ago
