Russia has banned sex change and gender change on documents. Are they the first country to do this?

When I read the title of this thread I thought they had banned putting your chosen gender on documents (eg passports, drivers license etc) which I can sort of understand

But reading that article, they have banned gender reassignment treatment altogether !!

"Administration of drugs and surgeries associated with gender reassignment therapy will now only be permitted in cases that require treatment of reproductive organ deformities in children"

He really has got a problem with ANYBODY who is not straight

I think i recall one of the African countries did something similar recently. I think it was Uganda who passed a law which could pass the death sentence on anybody caught committing homosexual acts

The orthodox church is pretty rough on gays to be honest, not as if the church is liberal to begin with. The main reason I had a problem with religion and became an atheist in my teenage years was how a woman became pregnant with out having sex, which is impossible unless you do Intrauterine insemination, but I never saw that mentioned in the bible nor the fact that it did never existed 2023 years ago. But other things I could not agree with are how God supposedly loves all his creatures but let's innocent babies be born with life threatening disease. How is that compassionate. Take gays, why would god not love all humans he created whether they were heterosexual or homosexual. That does not seem too compassionate either.

But I wont carry on about all the misgivings I have about the man in the sky.....

Wasn't there some story online a few months back that they were building some luxury homes in a new city outside of Moscow for foreigners who wanted to live in a non-woke way,and a lot of rich Americans and Europeans were buying up homes there.

There are a lot of countries that are not woke or open to lgbtq ideas, it is not just Russia. Not every one follows the same ideas every where. You think being woke flies in most Arab countries or even African ones?
