Many climate change scientists do not agree that global warming is happening

editor—The apocalyptic tone that Smith adopted in relation to the environment bears little relation to reality. In his editorial Smith asserts, “virtually all scientists agree that global warming is happening.” Global warming is now joining the list of “what everyone knows.”

Whether most scientists outside climatology believe that global warming is happening is less relevant than whether the climatologists do. A letter signed by over 50 leading members of the American Meteorological Society warned about the policies promoted by environmental pressure groups.

“The policy initiatives derive from highly uncertain scientific theories. They are based on the unsupported assumption that catastrophic global warming follows from the burning of fossil fuel and requires immediate action. We do not agree.”
Image
Those who have signed the letter represent the overwhelming majority of climate change scientists in the United States, of whom there are about 60. McMichael and Haines quote the 1995 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is widely believed to “prove” that climate change induced by humans has occurred. The original draft document did not say this.

What happened was that the policymakers’ summary (which became the “take home message” for politicians) altered the conclusions of the scientists. This led Dr Frederick Seitz, former head of the United States National Academy of Sciences, to write, “In more than sixty years as a member of the American scientific community ... I have never witnessed a more disturbing corruption of the peer-review process than the events that led to this IPCC report.”

This is total bullshit and is completely the opposite to your other post that referenced https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidrvett ... 021c7d49f4

All youve done is scoured the web to try and find something that says global warming isnt real. Im sure if you tried hard enough you could find evidence for the tooth fairy or other such bullshit

Just give it up.

I am all for clean air having got that out the way, the real problem is not European countries it is developing countries. They can not afford to go green for a simple reason. Look at India, so many are trying to break out of poverty. What do they expect of their government and elected officials, jobs and upward mobility. When you have families living in huts and no running water or electricity, their number one dream is not to buy an electric car. Their dream is to live in a nice house with hot and cold water, a refrigerator, heating and air conditioning, indoor bathroom and loo.... you get my drift.

The government has to figure out how to give the masses a way out of their living situation not so much worry about green house gases. I am using India as an example, China has come a long ways compared to India but there are dozens of countries in the world where their number one concern is not going green but survival, take most of Africa as another case.

Those coal powered factories are their lifeline to having a job and manufacturing, so European countries can talk all they want about reducing green house emissions but the real polluters for the foreseeable future is developing countries. Northwest Europe and the USA have had their industrial revolution and gotten a head these developing countries are lagging behind. They need time to bring their people out of the dire living conditions before thinking of green energy.

My 1 cent.

You've hit the nail on th head. Its a valid argument and one that most developing countries make - "You've had your go with industrial revolution and now its our turn"

The problem is we NOW know the damage that burning fossil fuels does. Its a bit like smoking. Back in the 80s and 90s everybody smoked but now we know the damage it causes and consequently none of us want to see our kids smoking

We HAVE to give these developing countries a better way and that is exactly what the Paris Climate Agreement was all about. Getting the world to invest in cleaner technology on a global scale

If you look at the list of countries that have signed up to the agreement (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_p ... _Agreement) you'll see there are LOTS of developing countries on there aswell as India and China. This covers over 98% of the global greenhouse gas emissions

Infact there are only 4 countries that are NOT part of the agreement (Iran, Libya, Yemen and Eritrea) and still believe in this climate change conspiracy bullshit so thankfully the whole world knows we have to act and we have to do it NOW

Despite what Brassmonkey says

I think you misunderstood my point brotha. I was trying to explain that in developing countries the main goal of people is not whether the ozone layer is healthy or carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are high, but a better life style, by better I mean food security, a roof over their head, clean drinking water, indoor plumbing, education for their children....... Northing to do with skin tone.

Thats the most ridiculous quote ive heard so far. Exactly how is a wind farm or a solar panel field more toxic than burning fossil fuels ???

manufacturing green products is toxic im not going to skool you god tptr454 start looking into how hazardous making green products really is. you will have clean air and be drinking sum toxic avenger water    fucking mutant kids and animals.
solar panels may be a hazardous due to cadmium. Gallium arsenide (GaAs) panels may be hazardous due to arsenic. Some older silicon solar panels may be hazardous waste for hexavalent chromium coatings. Newer, thin-film solar panels contain CIS/CIGS and may be hazardous due to copper and/or selenium.

in my anger i used the wrong term: Renewable Energy

So your argument is that the tiny amounts of things like copper that go into making solar panels is somehow more toxic than the millions of tons of CO2 that we are pumping into the atmosphere every day ??????

Leaving aside that this ONLY applies to solar energy and has no relevance to wind or wave energy, what about the MILES of copper that goes into making every single car on the planet ??? Or indeed anything with wires ? eg the house your sitting in right now ?? Things like copper and arsenic are NOT hazardous chemicals that are going to polute the earth !!

Oh and selenium is a protein that helps to make DNA and protect against cell damage and infections. It has nothing to do with solar energy

You really should try and understand what it is you are posting BEFORE you post it
