Will that script impact the accuracy of GA4?
No. I wont count anybody who closes the window within 2 seconds but you dont really care about those hits anyway
question how long do bots hang around on a page?
Search Engine bots will just load the page and thats it (so these wouldm't be counted). But google will mostly filter these out in anycase

The point is this will capture all your meaningful user traffic. The alternative is to load the full GA4 tag at the top of the page which massivle slows down your page speed (pasge speed is a high google ranking factor). Is it really worth doing this just to capture those few users that immediately close the page down ???

Up to you if you use it but we are using it across https://www.tacamateurs.com with no problems

Just incase you missed this, Google's UA Analytics is stopping processing data from July 1st. You need to upgrade to Google Analytics 4 before then. Details are in your analytics profile

If you've already done it, what do you think of GA4 ???

Seems a lot more complicated to me but maybe I just need to get used to it

Wish me luck I am going to try switch over tonight

The switch over itself is fairly straight forward.

Tip 1 - Make sure you do all your pages because any pages with the old UA code in will now load both the UA code AND the GA4 code which slows up your page load. You can switch back to your UA property in analytics to see what pages its still counting

Tip 2 - If you use Google Tag Manager then you can test/preview your pages to make sure the event is firing

Its the admin side I am still trying to wrap my head around. Seems way more complicated than before

Is anybody else struggling with this new GA4 admin interface ???

I simply want to view the traffic hitting a single page and I cant find how to do it for the life of me. It was easy in the old system

Before adding it can you tell me if this code slows down the pages.

Yeah I did some testing with this and the javascript was pretty heavy. However, check the first page of this thread and I posted a solution which doesnt load the script until 2 seconds after the page has loaded or when the users scrolls or clicks (whichever comes first)

Hope it helps
