Is it free speech or going too far?
I am good with a salon saying we are a women's or men's hair salon. I actually think it is everyone's right to decide what they do and who they do it for.
However here is my problem with this story. I am assuming it is a fact that she said “If a human identifies as anything other than a man/woman, please seek services at a local pet groomer,”
In particular this part of the sentence.
"please seek services at a local pet groomer,”
That is rude that is uncalled for that is wrong. Why do you have to offend others. Again I am taking this to be the fact from this article.
"The owner of a Michigan hair salon said she is refusing service to some members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Christine Geiger, who owns Studio 8 Hair Lab in Traverse City, said in a Facebook post she is exercising her free speech by only allowing certain customers.
“If a human identifies as anything other than a man/woman, please seek services at a local pet groomer,” the hair salon owner said. “You are not welcome at this salon. Period.”"

Totally agree with you. That is going to far
But this is the result of the SCOTUS ruling the other day that a person could refuse to make a wedding dress for a same sex couple https://www.sponsorchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=8009
Where do you draw the line between freedom of speech and outright discrimination ?
In my opinion, it should be illegal to discriminate against anybody based on the colour of their skin, their sexuality, their religion or even their gender. Otherwise you get poeple taking things too far like this

So you want to force people to take orders from people who they do not want to work for?

No absolutely not. Everybody has the right to refuse business for whatever reason. Its when they publicly state that they are refusing business because the customer is gay, black, muslim or whatever thats the problem
The law up until now has been that you can work for whoever you like and you can turn down business as you please. What you are NOT allowed to do is to publicly discriminate against people based on their sexuality, skin colour, religion etc.
That SCOTUS ruling has changed all that. Now its possible to open a business and put a sign up saying "LGBTQ people goto the pet salon" or "Whites only" etc. They can get away with it because they can now claim its their freedom of speech
Im as fed up with all this woke crap as anybody else but its a very fine line feedom of speech and hate speech
Thats just my opinion

Your first amendment guarantees free speech and if slavery is over then no one is to be forced into working for others. The woman does not want to have midget's as customers it is her right.

It can become a slippery slope as we have seen on social media where people get banned or their posts deleted because they are not allowed to exercise the First Amendment rights.

That is the big question
We all want free speech but what if (for example) Isis were posting recruitment adds on twitter ??? Would that be classed as freedom of speech ??? Or what if some neo-nazi group started posting racist hate speech ?? Should they be allowed to do that under their first ammendment rights ??
I dont profess to know the answer but I do know that social media means that what someone says can reach millions of people. On the one hand, nobody wants to see censorship of the internet but on the other hand, we could leave ourselves wide open to people preaching hatered and violence

Any restrictions on what is allowed to be said is unacceptable period.
