Another option might be to stick a translate button on your website linked through google translate (See the top right button on https://www.tacamateurs.com/ )
We have that on all our pages now

Im no WP expert but its relatively straight forward with a bit of javascriptDeSexGuide wrote: ↑July 18th, 2023, 10:04 amIs it hard to integrate into a WP site?tacnet wrote: ↑July 16th, 2023, 1:58 pmAnother option might be to stick a translate button on your website linked through google translate (See the top right button on https://www.tacamateurs.com/ )

Below is the javascript we use (You'll have to adjust it slightly for your domain) but once its setup, you can use links like this to translate any page :-
<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="trans('de')">Translate to German</a>
<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="trans('fr')">Translate to French</a>
<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="trans('es')">Translate to Spanish</a>
<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="trans('it')">Translate to Italian</a>
and so on
Hope that helps
Code: Select all
function trans(lng) {
// First check if there is a canonical link, if there is set url to the canonical href value
url = document.querySelector("link[rel='canonical']")
if (url) { url = url.href; }
// If not canonical link found, use the window.location.href
else { url = window.location.href; }
// If language is english then return without redirecting
if (lng === "gb") { window.location.href = url; return; }
// now grab the end of the url after your "https://www.domain.com".
// In our case, its everything after "https://www.tacamateurs.com" which is 26 characters long (first character is 0)
// so we can use javascript slice to split the url beginning at char 27
url_end = url.slice(27);
// Now put the url together in the format google translate requires.
// The format is "https://www-domain-com.translate.goog" + url_end + "?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=" + lng;
// Note the dashes in www-domain-com.translate.goog
// In our case (for example) the url https://www.tacamateurs.com/updates/ when translating to german (de) becomes
// https://www-tacamateurs-com.translate.goog/updates/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=de
url = "https://www-tacamateurs-com.translate.goog" + url_end + "?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=" + lng;
window.location.href = url;
return false;
