I see people driving alone in their car wearing a mask, walking their dog with a mask and even in stores. The stores I get if you are paranoid but in your car or walking out doors makes no sense.
driving alone and walking out doors never made any sense to be wearing a mask, let alone now.

Is it time to tell omicron to move over?

"A new COVID-19 variant called EG.5 is sweeping across the United States as cases and hospitalizations rise. The fast-spreading new COVID subvariant, also referred to as Eris, is now the dominant strain circulating in the U.S., health officials say."

Cases are going up, hospitalizations and deaths as well. There we go another uptick in the pipeline.

Are we going to have to mask up again?

A new variant with big changes has been identified.

BA.2.86

https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/18/health/c ... index.html

" A highly mutated new variant of the virus that causes Covid-19 has countries on alert as scientists scramble to understand how far it has spread and how well our immunity will defend against it.

The new variant, called BA.2.86 and nicknamed Pirola by variant hunters on social media, has more than 30 amino acid changes to its spike protein compared with its next closest ancestor, the BA.2 subvariant of Omicron, according to Dr. Jesse Bloom, who studies viral evolution at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle.

Three respiratory viruses could make you sick this season – but for the first time, there are vaccines against all of them

“This makes it an evolutionary jump comparable in size to that which originally gave rise to Omicron,” Bloom posted on his lab’s website. "

I possibly had it last week, I know I had some variant, but it was not any worse than a bad cold.
