Will these make any difference to the final out come of this war, absolutely none, not to sound like broken record but we all know who is going to win, and it is a shame a lot of people on both side are going to have to die until Ukraine realizes they are not going to be the winner.

You may well be right (as you know I hold the opposite opinion) but I think it comes down to the fact that if you were Ukrainian, would you ever give up ?????

During the battle of Dunkirk, when Britain was on its knees, Hitler was bombing us day and night and the whole world expected us to cave in and make a deal with Nazis, Churchil made a famous speech in which he said :-

"If our island nation is to end, then let it end when each of us lies on the ground choking in his own blood"

That speech roused the British people to fight on and I think that is EXACTLY the spirit the Ukranians feel right now. They will never give up and never give in. Even if Putin takes the whole of Ukraine, they will fight on. And that's why I think Russia can never win this war

We need a PM who is just half the man Churchill was but people like him are rare, I known know that line very well.



My guess Putin will not go west of the Dnieper, the Russian speaking and those to the east want to be with Russia, the ones to the left want to be part of the EU.

My guess he's going to take the whole of the south, including Odessa and be open to a peace deal of some form or other, but Ukraine is going to have to change their laws maybe their constitution saying they will never be part of Nato. This is all this war is about, Putin does not want Nato coming to Ukraine where they can attack major Russian cities in minutes.

I am not saying Nato will do that but Putin see's this as the red line and is not going to back down.

I'm a realist and have no dog in this war, I just feel bad for all the people dying. That is my number one concern.

Ok for once, I actually agree with you on several of those points.

If there are parts of Ukraine in the east that WANT to be Russian then yes, they should be allowed to be part of Russia providing it is a free and fair vote

If he goes as far as Odessa then that will essentially cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea and there goes all the wheat and grain exports the world relies on

As for the point about Ukraine joining NATO, it think the point is now mute. Given that Finland has now joined NATO and they have a much longer border with Russia than Ukraine does

And yes I feel bad for all this dying and wish it would stop.
