So you told a program owner in writing "runs a shitty non-paying program" and that he has not paid you?

If that is what went down let me give you my non-legal 2 cents.

Slander is the spoken word, when you tell someone(s) verbally and defame a person or his business, libel is when you write it. For example post it that XYZ owes you money and runs a shitty business, if that is not true he can go after you for damages to his reputation and business. Assuming you sent the email by mistake and called him and his program out, he can not prove damages. So that is a non-starter. You can email me that I run a shitty forum. If you do not tell others then I have no leg to stand on trying to sue you for damages.

If I was you I would write back sorry I sent it to you by mistake and forget about it.

My 2 cents.

They totally CANNOT sue you for slander.

What Butcher says is correct but one point I would add, in order to sue someone for slander or defamation they have to be able to prove a "measurable loss". That means they have to be able to put a monetary value on the losses they incurred as a direct result of what you said

In almost all cases this is impossible to prove. This is why people can get away with posting all kind of shit on social media

One example where it WAS proved recently was in the case of Johnny Depp and Amber Hurd. Johnny Depp was able to show that he had lost starring roles in several films (including Pirates of the Caribbean) as a direct result of what Amber Hurd had written in her book. Therefore he could put a monetary value on it and won his case

Simply sending an email to the wrong person wouldn't even get off the starting blocks.

Tell them to bring it on !

Did the site that owes you pay or have you forgotten about the missing payment and worrying over this new email situation.
