Good for Elon Musk, who is to say what is information and what is disinformation, he's sticking true to his pledge to allow more free speech on Twitter

Musk reminds me of Trump, they both do what they feel is right not what others want them to do.

They dont have the balls to ban a site as big as twitter. Imagine the uproar if hundreds of millions of European twitter users suddenly had no access to their accounts !!!

Ontop of that, they cant expect Twitter to fact check every single tweet to decide if its disinformation or not

Unfortunately social media means we live in a world where things like disinformation, hate speech, conspiracy theories, wokism etc is just a fact of life. That's what happens when you give everybody on the planet a voice !

I doubt Twitter cant afford to pull out of Europe. Apart from the lost European revenue, billions of global users would start looking for an alternative if they thought nobody in Europe could view their tweets.

Likewise no European government can afford to ban twitter. They would be voted out of power in a heart beat

I think this is just posturing on both sides

What lawyers do try harden their positions so they can have leverage in the final negotiation and outcome.

How much of this is because Elon Musk bought Twitter?

Precisely !

But there is the other side of the argument to consider when it comes to freedom of speech and Twitter

For example, what if ISIS start posting recruitment videos on Twitter ??? Or neo nazi groups posting stuff about ethnic minorities ??? Should we allow that and if not, where do we draw the line ?

Disinformation can be dangerous so there has to be at least some kind of moderation

Not sure what the answer is to be honest
