Anyone use the Brave Web Browser?
Just am wondering if anyone here uses the Brave Browser?
For those that do not know of it .. it is a fast web browser based from chrome engine source code for desktop/mobile that blocks out ads automatically with an option called 'shields'. You can turn them on or off with one click. Save mobile bandwidth and energy and time. Ditch that bloodsucking Google Chrome Browser!
Also, you can enable an option to allow in browser ads that will pay you once a month with a cryptocoin called Basic Attention Token (BAT). You just use the browser as you would normally. You get occasional ads that you can close out with a click. And there are options to how frequently they show; turn them on or off whenever. They send you BAT payments once a month into your UpHold.com wallet. From there, you can save it or trade it for some other coin or sell it for cash and transfer it to your bank.
Anyway, I was only wondering if anyone here uses it?

Why pay for a browser Firefox,Chrome, Opera, are all free. Go into private mode if you are concerned about privacy.

Where does it say you have to pay for it?
Brave Browser is FREE and way better than Chrome. It has private window mode and private with tor if you're using that. I haven't used firefox in like almost 9 years (grunt, grunt) and have never had to use opera.
Anyway, I was only wondering if anyone here uses it? It also has its own search engine

Looks good for personal use
the only thing that worries me about all this add blocking technology we see in browsers nowdays is how are sites supposed to make any money ? If everybody starts blocking adds then thats going to bring the internet to a grinding halt. Imagine if we could all block TV adds, that would be the end of commercial TV

You can turn off the ad blocking in the settings. or leave it on and manually turn it off where needed to verify something has been blocked.tacnet wrote: ↑July 10th, 2023, 12:58 amLooks good for personal use

I just recently noticed my sharethis buttons at the bottom of my pages were gone and my JA ad ..
I agree the web is powered on ads, but that will not stop browsers from giving users the ability to block ads and trackers. Since some websites out there like to be jammed packed with pop ups and ads that just make it un enjoyable to browse a site.
Plus I saving some coin from it once a month.
I really like to use brave with shields up for browsing news .. those damn news sites are annoying with all their ads.

Yeah, I used to use it. But it started to take up to much of my processing resources. Computer started lagging. Came across this brave browser like 4-5 years ago and never looked back. It pretty much looks just like chrome, last I seen chrome. It was made from the chrome engine, so it is part chrome, but not.
I was just wondering if anyone else here has used it or does use it. Just was curious.

It's a good browser. No need to add extensions to it. But you can if you need to. Here's a screen shot of what a new tab window looks like. The image changes all the time. I exchange my earned BAT every month for ADA, which is why it says 0 BAT token balance ..

Pretty cool site for all sorts of shtuff.. https://www.fosshub.com/
Description
Brave is a free internet browser developed by Brave Software, and it was initially released in beta form in 2016.
Brave was explicitly created to accomplish two things for internet consumers: To block all internet trackers and advertisements, and to surf the web faster than its competitors like Chrome and Firefox.
Note: If you're looking to download a Linux version, you can do it from the Brave Linux section here.
The Brave browser will leave a relatively small footprint on your system. The download file to install is just over 28 MB in size. Brave also saves a tremendous amount of storage space on your system if you use it for most of your internet browsing; you can easily save several GB of space due to brave blocking the massive amounts of trackers, super cookies and other unwanted files that will infect a computer in a short amount of time.
Brave indeed does deliver a faster internet browsing experience. This is exceptionally notable on a side by side comparison with Chrome or Firefox. Favorite news websites, for example, use an average of about 68 trackers every time you load them, which are installed on your system when the ads run on the page. With Brave, pages load with only the information and images you want. Pages that display a pop-up asking you to disable your ad blocking extension (in Chrome or Firefox) will merely load in Brave because the browser itself is the ad blocker.
The browser comes installed with full privacy as the default setting. This can easily be toggled on or off in the settings. Since the browser is still relatively new, updates are frequently offered, and Brave Software is continuously working to refine and improve the browsing experience. One of Brave's most recent updates added the ability for content creators on YouTube to monetize their videos, which was something that was missing from earlier release versions.
Brave delivers on its two core promises: It browses the web faster, and it blocks all advertising. The only downside to the browser (which Brave Software is continuously working to improve) is that you will occasionally run into a website that will not work due to the privacy features of Brave. Makes you wonder whether you want to visit that site, after all, doesn't it?
