Update to this story, and good news for both Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the charge that could have got them 5 years is no longer on.

The Santa Fe District Attorney's Office announced Monday it is dropping the gun enhancement charge -- a crime that would have carried a five-year sentence if convicted -- against Alec Baldwin in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of "Rust" in October 2021.

Baldwin still faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter for the shooting, however, that crime would carry a lesser sentence of 18 months if convicted. The amended complaint was filed late Friday.

The charge was also dropped against armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who faces the same involuntary manslaughter charge as Baldwin."

It hardly seems worth fighting now, let the judge give you the "Up to 18 months" save the legal fees, so you did not do it whatever, who cares it so short you will think you were on a cruise !

Well I am not surprised for many reasons. Let's face it money will not bring her back but I saw this law suit happening sooner or later.

What if all movie sets started using replica guns and rubber bullets so this type of accident never happens again. I'm for this idea.

From what I heard on the news, the original examination of the gun found that the gun had been modified to such an extentet that it actually fell apart during testing. Therefore they ruled this was an accident as the gun COULD have fired without him pulling the trigger (something he has always maintained he didnt do)

Now they have rebuilt the gun (using new parts) and have decided that the gun COULD NOT have fired without him pulling the trigger

I would imagine any decent lawyer could pull that case apart.
