Well in 2000 you made a gallery submitted to 10 tgps and you made 20-25 sales in the first 3 days plus a few residual sales over the following days.. It was a daily ritual every morning, and before that time news groups, man those things were a gold mine.

It's not all a waste of time, coming from someone who hasn't submitted a gallery in 2 decades but I know people who make money off them. You prioritize your time and do whatever it takes to make money. If you spend half an hour a day submitting galleries and make a sale it is worth your time if you were going to just goof off that half hour and not be working.
