We are seeing more and more users on VPNs these days which would make any attempt to introduce age verification totally futile. Its impossible to tell what country they are from (and therefore if we need to age verify them) if they are on a VPN

It would be a pointless exercose. We know it and I'm pretty sure the politicians know it too. They just like to talk about "cleaning up the internet" to try and win votes

Yes. All a VPN does is creat an encrypted connection between you and a proxy server. You then browse the web via the proxy server (using your usual browser)

Anybody trying to trace your IP will just get the IP of the proxy server (so no way of telling where you are located).
