First case of Copyright for images made using AI
It was bound to be taken up for copyright and the first case has been for the human touch not AI generated images.
"Feb 22 (Reuters) - Images in a graphic novel that were created using the artificial-intelligence system Midjourney should not have been granted copyright protection, the U.S. Copyright Office said in a letter seen by Reuters."

There's also lawsuits pending against AI. Copyright protected images were used to train AI. What happens now depends on the court ruling whether the AI creation is a derivative (protected) or transformative ( not protected) work.

As more and more cases go to trial precedents will be set and that will determine the future or copyright laws doe AI content, this will take some time.
